đź‘° For the Modern Bride: Timeless Thali Mangalsutras Reimagined

Hi Reader

Welcome, 2025! Wishing you a Happy New Year—I hope you had a wonderful time with your loved ones. After a short break from social media, I’m back with fresh ideas and inspiration for the year ahead.

Reflecting on the past year, I had the honor of creating some incredible custom thali mangalsutras. Many South Indian brides receive traditional thali pendants that, while deeply meaningful, can feel heavy and impractical for daily wear in a modern lifestyle.

In this email, I’m excited to share a few custom pieces designed for brides who want a dainty thali that blends a modern aesthetic with cherished cultural traditions.

I hope these designs inspire you. And if you’re dreaming of your custom thali mangalsutra, I’d love to bring your vision to life.

✨ Here’s our step-by-step custom jewelry process.

With deep gratitude and love,

Personalized Custom Thali

This was a special custom piece for a client who wanted a Mini Tulsi Thali that maintains the meaning without compromising on the wearability. She wanted to include:

✔️ Mini Tulsi Thali- most Tamil Thalis are big and bulky so we created a dainty version to keep the meaning and traditional look at the same time making it wearable.
✔️ Ruby Bottu: To represent traditional Bottu beads
✔️ Tamil Om
✔️ 22k Gold
✔️ 3 black beads
✔️ Versatile look

A Versatile Dual-Tone Mangalsutra

Designed with versatility in mind, this dual-tone mangalsutra balances daintiness and durability, perfect for daily wear.

Our client wanted a piece that could keep up with her active lifestyle—whether during runs or workouts—while still being elegant enough to layer with other jewelry for special occasions.

As a modern interpretation of a traditional design, it was essential for the piece to gain her family’s approval. We worked closely with her mother to ensure every cultural detail was honored, incorporating traditional Tulsi Thali pendants and Bottu beads.

The result is a timeless piece that blends tradition and contemporary style seamlessly.

Custom Mini Thali for a delicate look

This bespoke Tamil-Telugu mangalsutra was designed to represent a modern lifestyle while honoring deep-rooted traditions.

Our client envisioned an extremely dainty piece, with thalis as small as 5.0 mm (0.5 cm). Crafting such delicate, handmade thalis while preserving intricate details was a unique challenge. To add a contemporary touch, she chose diamonds to represent the Telugu pendant, blending tradition with timeless elegance.

The final design is a beautiful harmony of heritage and modernity—a piece that truly stands the test of time and will be cherished by the bride for years to come.

Valentines day Gifts

Hi Reader How does one make their love feel special? For a long time, Valentine’s Day felt like a product of marketing and economics to me. A single day, packaged and sold, asking us to prove something that should be felt every day. I strongly believe that love isn’t meant to be celebrated just once a year. It lives in us every day. But somewhere in my forties, my relationship with this holiday shifted. I realized Valentine’s Day isn’t really about roses or grand gestures. It’s about focus....

Hi Reader, There’s a certain kind of message that instantly lights me up-when a husband reaches out wanting to design a custom piece for his wife. There’s something incredibly special about being trusted with that kind of love story. And when it comes to mangalsutras, the meaning goes even deeper. To me, a mangalsutra is unlike any other piece of jewelry. It’s intimate. It’s symbolic. It’s a daily reminder of love and marriage, one of the most meaningful pieces a woman can wear in Hindu...
